Right now, downloading a Dailymotion playlist means saving its videos one by one — copy each video's link, run it through downloadxAI, and let parallel browser tabs do the heavy lifting. A 20-video playlist takes about ten minutes this way. A true one-click batch feature is on our roadmap — we're building it — but here's the workflow that works today, done efficiently.

First: know what you're actually downloading

Dailymotion has three things people casually call "playlists," and the distinction matters for how you approach them:

  • Playlist — an ordered list someone curated. It can mix videos from many different creators, which also means the usage rights can differ from video to video.
  • Channel — a creator's home base, listing everything they've uploaded. Saving "a channel" usually means a bigger job than a playlist, and if it isn't your own channel, the rights question gets serious fast.
  • Collection — a creator's own uploads grouped by theme on their channel. Single-source, like a channel, just pre-filtered.

The steps below work for all three, because they all come down to the same unit: individual video links. And the standing rule applies at scale too — stick to your own content, Creative Commons material, or permitted videos. Our legality guide explains why bulk-saving someone's catalog is a different beast from saving one permitted clip.

Step by step: playlist to downloads folder

  1. Open the playlist on dailymotion.com. Scroll through it once so you know how many videos you're dealing with — and skip any you don't actually want.

  2. Open the first video and copy its URL. Click the video title to open its page, then copy the address bar URL. On a playlist page, right-click → copy link on a thumbnail often works too, saving a page load.

  3. Open downloadxAI in a browser tab, paste the link, and pick a quality. Start the download, but don't sit and watch the progress bar.

  4. Open the tool in 2–3 more tabs for the next videos. While the first downloads, paste the second and third links in their own tabs — parallel tabs are what turn an hour of waiting into ten minutes of clicking.

  5. Keep each tab's download to one quality choice. Consistency helps: pick 720p for everything unless you specifically need 1080p, so the playlist ends up uniform in size and quality.

  6. Let the browser queue the files. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all stack simultaneous downloads into the same Downloads folder without any configuration — check progress with Ctrl+J (Cmd+Shift+J on Mac).

  7. Spot-check the first finished file. Play a few seconds before downloading the rest, so a wrong link or a wrong quality choice costs you one download instead of twenty.

  8. Rename or sort the files when you're done. Files arrive named after their videos; a quick pass adding "01 -", "02 -" prefixes restores the playlist order in any folder view or player.

Playlist-specific things worth knowing

Parallel tabs are the whole trick. The per-video steps are identical to our PC & Mac guide — the only playlist-specific skill is running two or three tabs at once. More than three or four parallel downloads rarely helps; your bandwidth becomes the bottleneck and everything just crawls together.

Playlist order doesn't survive the download. Browsers save files, not lists. If order matters — a course, a series, a documentary in parts — the numbered-prefix renaming habit from step 8 is the difference between a watchable archive and a pile of mystery files.

Expect the occasional private or deleted entry. Long playlists accumulate dead links: videos the owner removed or made private. Those can't be resolved by any legitimate tool — our honest explainer on private videos covers why — so just skip them and move on.

Phone users: keep it short. The same workflow runs on mobile — see the iPhone and Android guides for the folder details — but juggling parallel tabs is genuinely easier on a desktop. For a 2–3 video mini-playlist, mobile is fine; for twenty videos, borrow a laptop.

About one-click batch download. We know this is the feature everyone wants, and we're building batch download into downloadxAI — paste a playlist link, get the videos. We'd rather ship it reliable than ship it fast, so no fake countdown timers here: it'll show up on the site when it works. Stay tuned.
